Unusual air activity over the western Mediterranean.
In these minutes two maritime patrol aircraft of NATO countries are in flight over the western part of the Mediterranean Sea:

  • a French Navy Breguet Atlantique ATL2 (14) from NAS Lorient
  • a USNavy Boeing P-8A, which has departed from Rota.

The presence of the two aircraft in the area is not accidental, in fact this morning the Russian Navy Northern Fleet 121st landing ship brigade (composed by the Ropucha class LSTMs “Olenegorskiy Gornyak”, “Georgiy Pobedonosets” and Ivan Gren class “Pyotr Morgyak”) entered the Mediterranean, crossing the Strait of Gibiliterra.
