A large-scale Russian air and sea exercise is underway in the eastern Mediterranean and NATO could not fail to conduct a mission in the area.
An USAF Boeing RC-135U (reg. 64-14849 – callsign HOMER69) took off from Souda and carried out a five-hour surveillance mission before landing back in Crete at around 12:00 CET.
In the eastern Mediterranean there are currently the CSGs of the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and those of the Italian aircraft carrier Cavour
