Last night an unusual mission took place over the western Mediterranean.

In the afternoon a Turkish Air Force Boeing E-7T (reg. 13-0002 – f/n TURAF42) landed at Trapani Birgi AB, in the east of Sicily, coming from Konya AB.

At approximately 15:00 CET the aircraft took off towards the west and around 17:00 it started to orbit off Algeria, between Spain and Algeria.

The AWACS (whose sensors have a range of about 600km) has remained in the area until about 18:30 CET when it has turned eastwards heading directly towards Konya AB without any further stops.
