U.S. 6th Fleet announced that the F/A-18E Super Hornet blown off the deck of the USS Truman into the sea last July (we reported on it here) was recovered 9,500 feet under the Mediterranean Sea
The recovery operation was carried out by the ship MPV Everest, which specialises in operations carried out at great depths.
We do not know where the ship’s mission took place, but we do know that it left Augusta on 1 August, carried out the recovery on the 3rd, and returned to the Sicilian port on 4 August.
Now the Everest is anchored at the NATO pier in the port of Augusta and the F-18 is likely to be sent to the US via the Sigonella airbase.
