HOMER unusual mission

Interesting mission of a USAF Boeing RC-135U (reg. 64-14849 – callsign HOMER11) over the eastern Mediterranean.

The aircraft, which took off from Souda Bay AB operated south of Cyprus off Israel and Egypt.

The mission was interesting because it covered an unusual area and especially because on two occasions the aircraft descended to an altitude of 4,500 feet, flying for several minutes at an insular altitude for its usual type of mission.

We can assume that this type of mission was carried out to keep Russian naval assets present in this area under observation or in support of NATO naval units operating in this area.
