ALTHEA mission for an Italian P-72A

An unusual (but not as rare as it might appear) mission is carried out by an Italian Air Force P-72A (reg. MM62280, callsign EUFOR88) today.

The aircraft, departed from Sigonella AB, is in flight over Bosnia. As you can guess from its callsign, the mission is being carried out in support of the Althea mission, formally the European Union Force Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR).

The P-72A is not only a maritime patrol aircraft but can also acquire information on targets, the geographical situation, the weather situation and the position of contacts.
