The US Navy Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS San Juan (SSN 751) arrived yesterday in Limassol, Cyprus, for a scheduled port visit, Apr. 3, 2023.

USS San Juan’s port visit to Limassol demonstrates the U.S. and Cyprus’ unwavering commitment to promoting security and stability in the region,” said Capt. John Craddock, commander, Task Force 69. “San Juan’s forward presence and tactical acuity exemplifies the expertise of the submarine force and our dedication to operating in support of allies and partners,”

USS San Juan (SSN-751) is a Los Angeles-class submarine of the United States Navy. It is the third ship of the US Navy to be named San Juan, though only the second named for San Juan, Puerto Rico. The contract to build her was awarded to the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation in Groton, Connecticut on 30 November 1982 and her keel was laid down on 9 August 1985.

The Los Angeles-class submarines are nuclear-powered fast attack submarines that form the backbone of the US Navy’s submarine force. USS San Juan (SSN-751) is one of these submarines and was commissioned on August 22, 1988.
