Today, thanks to our friend @Gerjon_ report, we tracked an insual flight of an Italian Air Force Lockheed C-130J (reg. MM62181).
The aircraft landed at around 08:16 in Mogadishu, Somalia, from Djibouti.
After just under an hour and a half, at 09:45, the aircraft left Somalia to return to Djibouti (where it will presumably return to Italy).
As a reminder, Italy commands the EUTM SOMALIA mission, part of the European strategy for the Horn of Africa. The European Union, in cooperation with other international partners, contributes to the development of security sector institutions in Somalia by training local security forces.
Currently, the maximum annual size authorised by Italy for the national contingent employed in the mission is 148 military personnel and 20 land vehicles, deployed in various areas, from the main training of the Somali Armed Forces to the security of movements and the contingent, from logistical and administrative support to the Commander’s staff.
