Following yesterday’s Ukrainian attack on Sevastopol, which destroyed the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters, NATO surveillance missions continue in the Black Sea.
This morning, we are tracking two assets:
- An USN Lockheed EP-3E (reg. 159887), which took off from Souda Bay AB, is orbiting eastern Romania, near the Danube Delta, where it is conducting a SIGINT mission. The EP-3E is an electronic intelligence (SIGINT) aircraft that is equipped with a variety of sensors to collect data on Russian communications and radar emissions.
- A French Navy Breguet Atlantique ATL.2 (reg. 20) is flying over the Black Sea, conducting a surveillance mission. The ATL.2 is a maritime patrol aircraft that is equipped with a variety of sensors to collect data on Russian naval activity.
