Italian Typhoon crashes in Australia

An Italian Air Force Eurofighter F-2000A (registration unknown) crashed inside Litchfield National Park in Australia, south of Darwin.

The aircraft was participating in Exercise Pitch Black and was one of four Italian Typhoons sent to Australia for the exercise.

The pilot ejected and is in good health. He was picked up near the crash site by a CHC Helicopters Australia rescue helicopter (Leonardo AW139, registration VH-RQY) and taken to the hospital for medical checks.
