Double SIGINT mission off Tripoli

This morning saw intense SIGINT activity off the coast of Tripolitania.

A US Navy Lockheed EP-3E (reg. 161410), which took off from Souda Bay Air Base, was observed orbiting for an extended period near the Libyan capital.

Later in the morning, it was joined by a US Navy Northrop Grumman MQ-4C drone (reg. 169659) that had taken off from NAS Sigonella.

While it’s not uncommon to see these two assets operating individually off the Libyan coast, it is quite rare to track them simultaneously.

This is further confirmation that the situation in Libya remains highly uncertain and critical.
