A new mission was conducted today by an ATR P-72A (reg. MM62281) of the Italian Air Force, this time south of Sardinia. Although the full flight path is not available, the aircraft remained in the area for approximately two hours, from 10:37 CET to 12:13 CET, before heading back to its base at Sigonella.

A similar mission in the same area was carried out by a USN Boeing P-8A, which took off from Sigonella and remained in the operational area for approximately 5 hours.

Yesterday, Italian aircraft were deployed at least twice in the area west of Sicily, likely to monitor a Russian spy ship reportedly present in the area. These operations were carried out jointly with a P-8A Poseidon of the US Navy.

Today’s missions appear to have taken place further west, south of Sardinia.
