LNA air strikes on Tripoli and Misrata

The Libyan National Army spokesman declares that this night “ the airforce has conducted a double strike on the military part of Mitiga base in Tripoli and Misrata Air Academy, Targets were storage facilities used to prepare UAV’s and store its ammunition . Our jets took off from different bases, hit their targets and landed back safely “.

In the pres release we can read that the airstrike was made using “jets” but we don’t know if the strike was really conduceted by jets or by drones (as in the last weeks).

As usual we have to take news from Libya with a grain of salt.

Most of the available pilots, aircraft and equipment of former Libyan Air Force were taken over by the LNA/AF, which inherited the majority of the FLAF’s MiG-21 and MiG-23 fighter jets and L-36 trainer/light attack aircraft. The LNA/AF also took over five Russian-made attack helicopters, three Mil Mi-35s and two Mi-17s, which had been donated by Sudan in 2013.

We dont’ know actually what is the capability of these aircraft today. Since Jan. 1, 2016, eight aircraft — three MiG-21s and five MiG-23s — as well as six helicopters, including two Mi-35 gunships, have been lost either in accidents or shot down.
