This morning an Italian Air Force ATR P-72A (reg. MM62279 – callsign IAM4101 ) left Sigonella AB around 08:15 CET southbound.
The aircraft made a patrol mission off Tripoli at an altitude of 1.700ft. The mission was made as part of EUNAVFOR MED operation SOPHIA. European Union Naval Force Mediterranean (EU NAVFOR Med), is a military operation of the European Union that was established as a consequence of the April 2015 Libya migrant shipwrecks with the aim of neutralising established refugee smuggling routes in the Mediterranean.
