New western Mediterranean mission for a Turkish AWACS

Yesterday afternoon we have tracked a new mission of a Turkish Air Force Boeing E-7T (reg. 13-0003, f/n TURAF42) over the western Mediterranean sea.

The aircraft arrived south of Ibiza at about 15:30 CET and orbited in the area for about two hours before returning to its base in Konya, central Turkey.
Last week, we tracked a similar mission.

It’s possible that this mission is being operated as a NATO asset as NATO AWACS are all engaged in operations over Eastern Europe.
