Italian CAEW on task

Mission in an unusual area for an Italian Air Force Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (reg. MM62293 – f/n IAM1495).

The aircraft, which took off from Pratica di Mare AB at around 10:15 CET, is now orbiting between Sardinia and the Balearic Islands, an area in which we had not previously tracked activity of this type, despite having tracked similar assets over the western Mediterranean (usually between the Balearic Islands and Algeria) in the past.

Currently (12:00 CET) the aircraft has detached the ADS-B transponder and is no longer traceable
