FORTE’s eyes on eastern Black Sea

Missions by USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4Bs based at NAS Sigonella (callsign FORTE) on the Black Sea have been commonplace since before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Since the outbreak of war these have been located over the western or central Black Sea, south of the Crimea.

Today, however, this Global Hawk (reg. 10-2045, callsign FORTE12) is operating over the eastern Black Sea a short distance from Novorossijk and Sochi, Russian ports where several units of the Russian Navy are stationed.

Definitely an unusual mission.
