Aussies’ eyes on Ukraine

Yesterday morning, we tracked the first mission flown by a RAAF Boeing E-7A (reg. A300-02) over Eastern Poland.

Australia has deployed a Boeing E-7A Wedgetail aircraft to Germany, where it will be used to help monitor military and humanitarian supplies entering Ukraine. The deployment is part of Australia’s ongoing support for Ukraine, which has also included direct military aid and training support.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that the deployment of the Wedgetail is “a very significant contribution,” both in terms of what it will do and what it symbolizes. “This deployment includes up to 100 crew and support personnel.”

The Wedgetail is a sophisticated airborne early warning and control aircraft that can track hundreds of aircraft and ships at once.

The aircraft will be based in Ramstein for at least 6 months.
