Despite maintaining excellent trade and military cooperation relations with several NATO countries, Algeria continues to maintain equally good relations with Russia, as evidenced by the frequent courtesy visits of Russian naval units.
The latest visit was that of the Russian navy frigate Admiral Grigorovich, which remained anchored for three days in the port of Algiers before leaving on November 14.

The frigate, which entered the Mediterranean on November 11, stopped in Algiers from November 12 to 14 to strengthen cooperation between Russia and Algeria. However, it seems to have been a mere courtesy visit as there is no record of any joint operational activity between the Russian ship and Algerian units.
The frigate is currently en route to Tartus, Syria, where it is expected to arrive over the weekend.
