Italian Falcon on the “Libyan route”

This morning, we recorded for the first time an aircraft of the Italian Air Force, a Dassault Falcon 900EX (reg. MM62245) flying over central Libya towards the south. The use of routes crossing Libya is not a common practice, and in the past, we had only observed some French military aircraft heading to Central Africa using this route when the crisis with Algeria prevented overflight of the Maghreb country.

It is the first time we have seen an Italian aircraft follow this route, and it is likely that a greater openness to “Libyan” routes is also a result of agreements between Italy and Libya.

These agreements are expected to soon lead to the restoration of an air link between the two countries.
