Unusual presences in the Ionian Sea

This morning we tracked two missions (still ongoing at 12:30 CET) of two AWACS over the Ionian Sea.

More precisely, it is an Italian Air Force Gulfstream E.550 CAEW (reg. MM62293) taking off from Pratica di Mare AB orbiting over the Ionian Sea within the Italian FIR, and a Hellenic Air Force Embraer EMB-145 AEW&C (reg. 374 – c/s OURANOS12) orbiting between the Peloponnese and the Ionian Islands.

We don’t know the nature of these emissions, but it is highly likely that they are connected to the ongoing NATO Dynamic Manta exercise currently taking place in the Ionian Sea.
