Eyes on Libyan coast

Today, we managed to track, albeit partially, a mission of an Italian Air Force P-72A (reg. MM62279) north of Libya.

The track is incomplete, with about 4 hours of flight missing out of a total of approximately 7, but it is still very interesting.

It appears that the P-72, departed from Sigonella AB, flew off the coast of Tripoli, just outside Libyan airspace. It is possible that the aircraft was conducting a mission related to monitoring migrant routes (a few days ago, we were able to follow a complete track of a similar mission), but, in general, it is uncommon to be able to track it so close to the Libyan coast.
