Greek medias report that on Friday, during the Turkish mission in the central Mediterranean, at least 16 Turkish Air Force Lockheed Martin F-16s entered into the Athens FIR without an autorized flight plan: nine fighters were armed; 11 F-16s flew in formations.

Some Hellenic Air Force Lockheed Martin F-16s from Crete airbases ( Souda Bay and/or Kasteli) were scrambled to intercept the Turkish aircraft and in 4 cases, the media reports that real dogfights would have taken place ( not uncommon in this type of accident between Greece and Turkey) .

The Hellenic National Defence General Staff confirmed that on April 17th there were some violations of thr Greek airspace in the Central, Southeastern Aegean Sea and Libean Sea by the Turkish Air Force aircraft.
