Central Mediterranean surveillance mission

Surveillance mission this morning for this Hellenic Air Force Embraer ERJ-145 AEW&C (reg. 729 – callsign OURAN31).

The aircraft has departed from Elefsis AB, near Athens, at 09:14 CEST and has landed around 13:30 in the same airbase after orbiting south west of Peloponnese over central Mediterranean Sea.

The Greek AWACS is one of IRINI assets. The Operation, named EUNAVFOR MED IRINI  (Greek for “peace”) was thus launched on 31 March 2020 and extended to 31 march 2023. Its core task is the implementation of the UN arms embargo on Libya through the use of aerialsatellite and maritime assets.
