This morning around 10.30 local time (09:30 CET) a Hellenic Air Force Mc Donnel Douglas F-4E ‘Phantom‘, which took off from Andravida AB crashed about 25 nautical miles south of the base.
The area of impact was located in the Ionian Sea but has not yet been pinpointed precisely. Searches by helicopters from the Greek Air Force and Navy are ongoing.
There is no news on the pilots at the moment.
Andravida is home to 117 and 338 Squadron (based on F-4E) and the Tactical Weapons School (also using the F-4E)
