The arrival of the Admiral Grigorovich frigate at Tartus provides an opportunity to assess the current situation of the Russian presence in the Mediterranean.

The premise is that we are in a situation where the Russian naval presence in the Mediterranean is at one of the lowest levels in several years.
Currently, the following ships are present:
- Admiral Grigorovich, frigate
- Merkury, corvette
- Orekhovo-Zuyevo, corvette
- Kildin, intelligence ship (the only one not currently present in the Syrian port of Tartus)
- PM-82, repair ship
- Yelnya, tanker
It is clear that there is currently no submarine component, as the only Kilo-class submarine left the Mediterranean in recent weeks.
We will see if reinforcements will arrive in the Mediterranean in the coming weeks, but we can say that now the Russian presence in the Mediterranean does not constitute a particular concern for NATO forces.
